The Virtual Abattoir

The Virtual AbattoirTM is a unique teaching program combining photo-realistic interactive 3D models with the expertise of Glasgow University Veterinary School.

It addresses the real industry need for teaching and training Vets, students and slaughterhouse operatives involved in red meat production, providing an interactive understanding of the processes involved in hygienic meat production.

It runs from lairage to stunning at the initial stage, then from dressing to chill and then the cutting plant to dispatch, at each point is an illustration of the features – and you can stop it, reverse the system and go back again. You can follow the carcass through to the chill and the cutting room. The important thing for us, as educators of veterinary undergraduates, is it maximizes the use of limited visit time.
